What Is Your Great Achievement This School Year?

The theme “The value of your achievements” brought the 2020-2021 Escuela para Padres sessions to a fitting close.

On Thursday 3 June, by video conference, Velia Delia Banda delivered a subject that proved rewarding for parents, particularly in the middle of the pandemic we have been living through for more than a year.

The session stressed the importance of recognising our achievements and of practising self-recognition as parents, so as to pass the same habit on to our children — so that they learn to enjoy themselves, to focus, to hold healthy self-esteem and a positive perception of who they are.

To that end, she explained that it is essential to observe yourself without judging or comparing, to know your real needs and interests, and to learn to be comfortable speaking well of yourself without dwelling on your faults. In this way you can relate to others more genuinely and less dependently, and strengthen those relationships further.

Those attending also took part in a brainstorm of self-rewards to put into practice.

So end this cycle’s sessions of the programme devoted to providing tools for children’s all-round development. Over this school year the subjects covered were: “Online classes: how do we make it simpler?” by Velia Veliz, “My child, my mirror” by Nora Barbosa, “Nutrition and sport, good allies for my child’s development” by Daniel Hermida, “Love and respect, the pillars of raising my child” by Angélica Buchán and Arianna Cedillo, “Getting to know my child through their stage” by Yelma Estevan, and “The value of your achievements” by Velia Delia Banda.

All the sessions are open to the general public and completely free.
