First Oxford Fun Run Walk Held

The first Oxford Fun Run Walk 2022 was successfully held as part of the school’s 20th anniversary in Reynosa, with 550 people taking part: parents, students, staff and members of the public.

On the morning of Sunday 22 May, hundreds of Oxfordian families gathered at Parque Industrial Villa Florida, where Nora Ruiz led the 5-kilometre race followed by Rafael Uvalle, Édgar Cortez, Rafael Esqueda and José Nicolás Padilla, all with times under 25 minutes.

The determination and discipline of the Oxfordian family from all five campuses was on show in each of the 234 runners in the 5K and the hundreds of children and adults in the 1K.

Cheering sections spurred participants on at several points along the route, encouraging them towards the finish. Whole families covered 1 or 5 kilometres in weather that was favourable for much of the day, with no high temperatures and a mostly overcast sky, and an almost imperceptible drizzle along part of the course.

On the stage, meanwhile, the talent of Oxfordian students was on display as they performed pieces on the piano that they had practised at the Allegro music academy. There were also souvenirs and a prize raffle courtesy of the sponsors: Game Room, SIPA, GMC Reynosa, Powerade, Los Percherones, Nvent, Crepa&Café, Andart, Frontera 62, Habaneros, Lujito Carwash, Interiorismo De Cor, Mejores Amigos Hotel Canino, Elote Grill House, Medi Step, Liga Pequeña de Béisbol Vista Hermosa and Sachori.

So passed one more of the events celebrating the twentieth anniversary — an occasion that represents how the school has evolved across these 20 years, with the backing of Oxfordian families and their support for one another at every step of the way.
