20th Anniversary Celebration Begins

With families and staff from all five campuses present, the commemorative ceremony marking the start of the celebrations for Oxford Reynosa’s 20th anniversary was held on 23 March.

The event, held at Las Quintas Campus, was led by students, parents and staff who represent the institution’s values and who came up on stage, where various awards were presented.

As well as recognising the service of staff and students over 10, 11 and 12 years at the institution, special mention was made of those who helped build this dream from the beginning — Ms. Martínez and Mr. Bocanegra, for 20 years of being part of Oxford.

The recognition of all-round students was among the most notable moments, as they are chosen for embodying the qualities and values proper to an Oxfordian, with one selected from each level per campus: Kindergarten, lower primary, upper primary, secondary and high school.

During the speech given by the director, Mr. Ryder, mention was made of Oxford’s beginnings in this city with the aim of offering an innovative, high-quality education with international programmes — a dream that began with 25 students and has grown to the thousands who today form part of this movement of transformation across its five campuses: Las Quintas, Vista Hermosa, Petrolera, Las Fuentes and Middle Years.

Families representing those benefiting from the scholarship programme also came up on stage to receive a symbolic cheque for the $23,715,089.00 pesos allocated this year to giving more children and young people access to a quality education.

To close came the most moving moment of the celebration: a video showing the school’s beginnings and the development it has undergone across these first 20 years.

The anniversary activities are only beginning. Coming up are a 1k and 5k race on 22 May, as well as other events to be announced shortly.
