A Celebration for the Planet Is Held

Hundreds of families came together at the Earth Day and Family Fun Day event held last weekend at Vista Hermosa Campus, which served as a showcase for local entrepreneurs, community benefit organisations, and those who love the planet and the living things that inhabit it.
The annual event was held at Vista Hermosa Campus for the first time, drawing more than one thousand five hundred people who, over its six hours, enjoyed a variety of entertainment, trade and learning activities.
Local businesses found a showcase for their goods, food, plants and all kinds of artisan products, as well as the promotion of services and information from organisations, among other enjoyable activities.
In the dining area there was a variety of food trucks, and visitors could also sample delicious ice creams, churros, elotes, toffee apples, marquesitas and all manner of snacks.
Elsewhere, visitors found substantial discounts from service providers and traders who came as exhibitors to offer their natural products and crafts.
On the stage, audiences enjoyed performances from the various music and dance academies taking part.
As is customary, the event was also a space for pets, and provided the setting for the animal parade as part of the fancy-dress competition — a moment of great fun for visitors of all ages.
And of course there was participation from organisations promoting initiatives of care for the planet and living things, such as Rayito de Luna and Fryam A. C., which had pets on show for adoption; Ayuda Humanitaria, which offered trees and plants in exchange for recyclable material; La Granjita, which allowed close contact with farm animals; and Scouts Siete Reynosa, who offered a glimpse of all the activities they carry out in harmony with nature.
Something new was added to the event this time, too: the fairground rides, which offered a great deal of fun, mainly to the youngest visitors.
This school year has been one of major projects set in motion thanks to the constant support of our whole Oxfordian community. Many of them were recently launched with the proceeds of the Gran Kermés, and now the contribution of the whole community at Earth Day will be added, allowing us to follow through and see completed projects with a total cost of almost one million three hundred thousand pesos.
