Partners in Education

The talks Oxford began with STC some years ago to bring the Dual Credit programme within reach of our students concluded on 12 August with excellent results.

The agreements Oxford reached will be of great benefit not only to our student community but also to other educational institutions in the region, which will be able to take advantage of the terms of this arrangement.

At a meeting held in McAllen, Texas, attended by Mr. Matthew Hebbard, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment, Rebecca De Leon, Ed.D., Dean for Dual Credit Programs and School District Partnerships at STC, the admissions and examinations team, and Mr. Timothy J. Ryder, director of Colegio Oxford, a further step was completed in the process of enrolling our high school students in the Dual Credit programme.

One of the purposes of the meeting was to review the enrolment process and the creation of student identification numbers.

Thanks to the talks Oxford began in 2019, STC found a way to reduce the cost of the courses to make them more accessible to our Oxfordians. The admission process was also made easier, since we will soon have teachers certified by STC as Accuplacer College Board™; in this way our students will be able to sit their placement test on our own campus without travelling to STC.

It has been a long road, and we are proud of an achievement that would not have been possible without the outstanding commitment STC and its committee show to giving young people in our region access to higher education.
