Hambretón Food Drive

Hambretón Food Drive

Campus Vista Hermosa took part in Hambretón with the Banco de Alimentos de Reynosa, and the collection came to 5,605 kilograms of food, enough to reach 930 families.

Students worked the drive themselves: gathering the donations, then spending the day at the Banco de Alimentos in aprons and hairnets, sorting and packing what the community had given. The certificate handed over at the end records both figures, and the students are in the photograph holding it.

The Oxfordian community supports the Banco de Alimentos de Reynosa, A.C. every year through Hambretón, the largest community service effort the school runs. Driven by our value of active social collaboration, the drive mobilises students, parents and staff to collect essential non-perishable goods, rice, beans, cooking oil, lentils, sugar, pasta and canned goods.

The 2019 campaign set what was, at the time, a deliberately ambitious community target: 3.5 tonnes. Two years later our joint effort did not just meet that baseline, it broke it several times over. Running from 11 to 29 October 2021, the drive brought in a record **11,077.458 kilograms**, approximately 11.07 tonnes of food, delivered directly to families in need across the Reynosa region.

The winning grade at each campus:

• Campus Las Quintas, 1.º, with 1,061.025 kg

• Campus Vista Hermosa, 1.º, with 2,148.610 kg

• Campus Petrolera, 5.º, with 175.600 kg

• Campus Las Fuentes, 2.º, with 368.690 kg

• Middle Years, 5.º, with 365.160 kg

The winning grade level was celebrated for their dedication with a Movie Party and custom school cylinders, a reminder of what this community can achieve when it comes together behind a shared cause.

Thank you to every family who sent something in. Together we make the difference.

“5,605 kilograms, and 930 families reached.”
