Students choosing books in the community library

Community Connection

Our Community Libraries

A library on every campus, open to our students, their families and the wider community.

Community Library

A Library on Every Campus

Each campus has its own library, open to students, teachers and the wider Oxfordian community. Books are organised and shelved by reading level, and every book is labelled with its level, its quiz and the points it carries.

Groups visit on a scheduled timetable, and the library is open to all groups throughout the day. Reading areas — rugs, cushions and soft seating — sit apart from the shelves so a class can read together without interrupting anyone browsing.

The library also looks after the Reading Corners and classroom libraries across the school.

Open to Everyone

A Library for Students and for the Whole Community

We open our doors to the community. Students use the library every day as part of their learning, and families, teachers, staff and neighbours are welcome to borrow, visit and take part.

For Our Students

Scheduled class visits, books shelved by reading level, A.R. quizzes taken in the library and a Reading Corner in every classroom. The library is part of the school day on every campus.

For Families and the Community

Books are lent to students, teachers, staff and community members alike. The library buys books with the whole community in mind, donates books to community groups with Direction’s approval, and welcomes parents as volunteers.

Across our campuses the collection holds more than 73,086 physical and digital titles. At Campus Las Quintas the library stays open until 5:00 p.m., so the wider community can use it too.

Reading Programme

How Your Student Grows With Us at The Oxfordian Community Library

Reading at Oxfordian is tracked, not just encouraged. From the Reading Corner in your child’s own classroom to the quizzes and the year’s recognitions, three things run alongside each other and build on one another.

Reading Corners

New from 2026–2027, every classroom from Nursery to Secundaria, and Preparatoria at Campus Las Quintas, has its own Reading Corner: at least two books per student, chosen for the grade across stories, novels, poetry, biographies, science and history, a reading mat in Kínder and Primaria, a shelf or cubbie for the books, and the titles families bought through the school supply list. Children read there in the moments that open up in a day — after finishing work early, or in a reading slot the teacher sets. Corner books stay in the classroom; if a book has a quiz, students take it in the campus library.

20 minutes a day, 1 book, endless adventures.

Accelerated Reader (A.R.)

Each grade has a reading goal. Students take a short quiz on a tablet after finishing a book and earn points towards that goal, with set cut-off dates through the year. Students who fall behind are identified early and supported.

A.R. Achievers

Students who reach their goals are recognised, with an end-of-year event and recognitions for the year’s achievers.

Oxfordian Literature Programme

Titles are planned per grade with Academic Coordination, and books move between campuses so every group has what it needs.

Author of the Month

Each campus promotes an author and a set of titles each month, with displays in the library.

Reading Together

Reading Events on Every Campus

Reading is something our families do with us. Every campus opens its doors for reading events through the year, where parents come in to read alongside their children.

Muffins with Mom

Mothers are invited into school for a morning of reading with their children, over muffins and coffee.

Donuts with Dad

Fathers take their turn, sharing a favourite book with their children over donuts.

Read Aloud

A day of stories read aloud across the school, planned by the library in the second semester.

Reading Marathons

Secundaria held the school’s first reading marathon, and Kínder at Campus Vista Hermosa joined the SEP reading marathon. Read the story.

Dates for each campus are shared in circulars and on the academic calendar.

Through the Year

More Than Lending

The library runs a programme of its own alongside the school calendar.

  • Book Fair each year, planned with the academic calendar.
  • Reading competitions — at least three across the year.
  • Participation in Kermés and Earth Day, alongside the rest of the school.
  • A library shop, with fundraising activities through the year.
  • Book donations to the community, authorised by Direction.
  • Volunteering — students and parents are invited to take part in the servicio becario.
