We Celebrate the 2023 Olympics

The second edition of the Oxfordian Inter-Campus Olympics 2023, which included the girls’ and boys’ sprint events, mixed relays and girls’ and boys’ endurance races, was successfully held on Friday 28 April at Las Quintas Campus.

During the opening ceremony, which began at 8:00 a.m., the contingents from each campus were presented. In total 78 primary students took part, the finalists from each of our five campuses: 18 participants from Las Quintas, 20 from Vista Hermosa, 16 from Petrolera, 12 from Las Fuentes and 12 from Middle Years.

As soon as the competitions began, the high sporting standard was clear from the closely fought races, which finally produced the greatest number of medals for Las Quintas Campus, with 18 won: eight gold, seven silver and three bronze. Following close behind was Vista Hermosa Campus with 17 medals: seven gold, three silver and seven bronze. Petrolera Campus took one silver and two bronze, Las Fuentes Campus added four silver and one bronze, while Middle Years Campus won two bronze — evidence of the great Oxfordian competitive spirit.

The participation of parents and staff in the Special Race also proved most enjoyable, with everyone having fun in good company.

Good sporting conduct and teamwork prevailed across the different events, in a most rewarding day in which our campuses’ physical education teachers played an important part: Mr. Ramírez of Las Quintas, Mr. Fragoso of Vista Hermosa, Mr. Pedraza of Petrolera, and Ms. Arreola of Las Fuentes and Middle Years.

The commitment and dedication shown on the track by all the participants, together with the dedication of the organisers and support staff, made this event a complete success.
